The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Edo State September 21 governorship election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday, took his campaign to the Aduwawa livestock and Kara Market in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, promising the Hausa traders a better deal.
Okpebholo, who spoke in the Hausa language, told the crowd that he would build a modern market conducive to trading as well as abolish double taxation if voted in as the next governor of Edo State.
“I will rebuild the market in Aduwawa to a modern one so that the traders can conduct their business in a conducive atmosphere. I will also tar the road so that moving to and from your community will become easy.
“Double taxation will become history in the state I am coming to work for Edo people and not to steal their money. Vote the APC on September 21 and freedom will come your way,” the APC flag-bearer said.
On the campaign train was ex-governor Adams Oshiomhole, who told the people that Okpebholo, who is his colleague in the Senate, would never disappoint them if elected into office.
Also speaking in Hausa language, Oshiomhole said that the people should vote for the APC, to usher in better governance compared to what is currently obtainable in the state.
He said, “I stand here today to assure you all that Okpebholo will deliver Edo people from the PDP’s harsh policies. I appeal to you people to come out en masse and vote APC on September 21.”
Speaking in Uteh in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Okpebholo assured the people that if elected governor, he would make sure the major road that passes through the community was given priority, so that the people of Uteh could access their community without difficulty.
He noted that good roads were part of the gains of democracy and he was ready to bring it to the people if voted into power on election day.
